911 RS Lightweight Style Recaro Seats - Original

For sale is a pair of '70s Recaro seats refurbished by Tony at Autobahn Interiors in San Diego. These came to me in dismal shape, upholstered in corduroy and vinyl and that is how I've had Autobahn redo them for me. The project these were meant for went another way, so they are available. Beautiful quality work by Autobahn on the upholstery as usual but the fibreglass work is typically just a bit rough in places, as can be expected from these type of original 50-year old seats - please study the photos closely and I'll also be happy to supply plenty more good quality photos by email. No sliders or brackets included. Shipped from Niagara Falls, NY while they are currently located in Toronto, Canada. Asking 11-thousand Canadian - make me an offer and we'll work out the details on getting them to you. Thanks!!

What do you mean by “2022 factory quality RS issue”? If in fact original and not reproduction, aren’t these Recaro Rallye 1s?

the seats are rallye 1 (knurled screw) not the porsche lightweight version. whether original or replica - you would have to have the seats in person. I've just seen very "good" replicas of this version. the restoration does not make this any easier. from afar I'm guessing original buckets.

Hope I could help a bit.

He was trying to describe condition, not originality. What he meant to say if I read correctly is that the condition is nice for 50 year old seats but, doesn’t look brand new (i.e. 2022 condition). Also I took it to mean, the obvious difference between the original condition fiberglass vs the new upholstery.

Thanks for the clarification Michael. The descriptions used in this post are confusing to me. Just want to make sure these are real vintage Recaros and not reproductions.

Those seats are offed as "RS lightweight style" seats, so the seller knows those are not factory RS lightweight seats.
Maybe Recaro Rallye 1, but who knows after a restoration.

Hi All, sorry to have dropped out from the communication about these seats, and sorry for the confusion. These are original Recaro seats from the 70s. They came to me upholstered it what I assume to be the original materials, which were in very poor condition. They were upholstered in vinyl and corduroy, not in the lightweight cloth material that the lightweight 73-RS could be ordered with. I had Tony at Autobahn in San Diego refurbish the seats for me in the same materials that I received them in. I got the seats refurbished for a restoration project, which has now gone another direction, so the seats are no longer needed, hence they are for sale. What I am saying is that the seats are 50 years old, so the original fibreglass buckets are not perfect in their condition like you would find in a modern car. If you look at the photos closely, you'll find some marks and rough areas but that is simply 'patina' and also reflects the fact that the seats were not made perfectly back then. I'm asking $11,000.00 for the pair - that is approximately USD 8,250.00. Please email me directly with comments and questions to kye@kyser.ca

These are original 1970s Recaro seats. All I'm saying is that the finish of the fibreglass is not as smooth and perfect as they would be on a modern car. These have some 'patina' but the fact is the fibreglass seat buckets were not as well finished as they are today. Thanks! Kye.
