Notice the 356 Porsche in the background? There wasn't a better place in the world to be 19 years old in 1963.
Cheers,
John

OCC had just about the best Crew and Sailing teams for many years. I think the name has changed.
Balboa Island was a great little community during the week, Disneyland on the weekend.

We did summer vacations on Balboa In the 50’s and I went to OCC in the late 60’s. I worked at Taylor’s Trim Shop just off Newport Blvd in the same time period. I remember picking up Chick Iverson’s black 69S hard window Sportamatic Targa for upholstery repair one time. I believe it was his wife’s car. Taylor’s was still there a couple years ago. The last job I had in Newport before hitting the road was at Schock Boats in the upholstery and sail side of the business. I still enjoy visiting there during the Lit week.
Loved living on Balboa Island! There was a math teacher at OCC that drove a old Speedster to school. I always enjoyed getting rides to school with him. I had my '65 so we would talk Porsches all the time.

I took some classes at O.C.C. to pass a bit of time and pick up a few credits between high school and college. I enjoyed spending time in Balboa as well. Had a 240Z back then... I used to play boy racer with it on Back Bay Drive.
