This is 100% correct with the smooth tab
Alot of people slap a mercedes rear view mirror on the stalk but the tab is never correct
Chrome is in excellent condition.
The pebbled plastic is in nice shape, unfortunately half of the lip that surrounds the edge of the mirror is missing. Nevertheless the mirror is firmly in place.
These are impossible to find because of degradation.

Say what? The stem looks good but, the window body is completely roached. I’ve seen that on many of the early 68 plastic mirrors and I have a ‘67S mirror in the same condition. UV that’s caused a complete breakdown of the plastic. Essentially crystallized. Run a fingernail along it and I’ll bet material just falls right off.

Actually the material is very strong.

i have a drawer full of degraded housings, foggy mirrors--and ubiquitous stems like this one....a bit jealous of the easy to fabricate extension.
