Engine #960618, raced by Milt Minter at Riverside and Willow Springs. Engine later sold to Ritchie Ginther.

What's the story with it being an ex-Ritchie Ginther motor? i.e. provenance etc.

    Here's what we know:

    1967 911S engine
960618

BACKSTORY: Milt Minter campaigned the VASEK POLAK
911 1968/69 placing 2nd @ Willow Springs on 2/6/68, a DNF in Portland 8/9/68 and took another 2nd at Riverside on 11/24/68. Notes are vague, but another DNF seems to have come from Minter detonating the engine.

In 1969, Minter began running larger-displacement engines, and #96018 ended up with Richie Ginther/Ginther Racing. According to shop associates, Johnny Von Neumann and Harold Brighton, principal builder, #96018 was kept as a long block and considered “shop art.” It was put up for sale 14 years after Ginther passed away in 1989.

Famed Porsche restorer/ engine builder Rick Cabell/ Eurotech and Cabell Restoration (Shelburne VT) bought #96018 for the potential of “future resurrection,” storing it until 2020 When a rebuild was commissioned by Jonathan Sieger of 911 MFI Solutions and TRE in Van Nuys CA. They collaborated to do a no-expense-spared restoration completed in 2022. when it was shipped to California.
