Thread: Windshield seal question

    Windshield seal question

I'm finally going to attempt installing windshields. When preparing the seals, which I bought from a local Porsche dealer as OEM, I notice that the rear seal has a divider whereas the front seal has a single open channel for the windshield to fit into. On the rear seal, I'm assuming the windshield fits into the channel closest to the outside (exterior of the car) because of the gripping ridges. Question: Why is the divider included in the rear seal (left photo) and is this normal? Thanks in advance for any help

it might be that the rear seal uses wires for the defroster lines. and the wires have a special channel to fit in.
which comes out a hole, about halfway up the sides....which are cut by hand....

As other members rightfully explained is to hold (hide) the heating cables.
If your car didn't have it in the first place, remember that the Alternator has to have at least 770 Watts output.
