    Porsche Registry for Italy

    Hi,

I searched the forums a few ways, and don't see a Region for Italy (I see UK, France...) so asking the general question. As I've posted recently, I picked up a 1968 911S that was sold and lived most of it's life in Italy. I have incomplete documentation from the German collector I bought it from, and am looking to get more details on it's ownership and time there (over 40yrs) than what has been provided. I've already reached out a few times to Porsche Club Italia, but no response.

Has anyone had experience doing car history in Italy? I know that some countries the Auto Club is better than dealing with the DMV equivalents, etc.... and am aware there's no CarFax equivalent even on newer cars there. If anyone has any pointers or learnings I'd be very appreciative. This is the fun part, btw. I like the stories and people that come with them as much as the cars themselves.

    Cheers,

    Chris

Try ACI. If you have the original license plate numbers you can get the full chain of Italian ownership. That is how I did it for my 73S.

    Thanks Steve,

If I don't have that (need to look through and translate a lot of italian documents), is there another way with the VIN and original owner info? Also, for ACI, how did you communicate with them? Email or other?

    Thanks,

    Chris

PS - see you've got epic snow in Jackson this year! Tahoe is the same.

    Hi Chris,
You need the licence plate number, no other possibility. Sorry.
Could you please post or PM pictures of your Italian 1968 911S, I could check my database and ask some friends in Italy.

Targa Plate is BS877722. I'm questioning the sellers story at this point, but it's too late now. I'd like to find more on the history of the car in Italy if I can. Thanks for the help.

If you have the chassis number you can still search for the car information at the "Motorizzazione Civile" ... I've done it last summer for a friend looking info on his 2.7 RS.
It's neither immediate nor straightforward and you have to know how to crawl through the Italian administration.

I would suggest you ask to a pro (agenzia pratiche auto) ... it will cost a couple of hundreds of Euro but it will return results.

    Good luck.
