    Fuel door catch question

I am trying to figure out what came first. If your 65-68 has its original front left fender with fuel door could you please post your vin (or most of it) and tell me whether the catch is all metal

Also in case you have a 356 C/SC can you check for a slot?

    Thanks

Here is a shot of mine, #301111. A '65. Has slot. But no hole.

Just outside what you are asking for:
This is a late 63 B Reutter CAB

    No hole in the middle

    Current long term ownership: 63 Cab, 71 911, 74 914

Thank you both for your input.

I tend to believe that what I mistakenly labeled slot instead of hole was introduced sometime after John’s vin (and after 301850) but before November 65 (mine 912). Maybe a my66 change? Also the replacement part you can buy today is with a hole (which therefore rhymes as a later change?).

P.s. the difference between a 356 and early 911/2 are the ears. It won’t fit in a 900 series.
