    Busted Flapper Box Mounting Stud

My engine rebuild is pretty much done but redid the flapper boxes while the engine was out. I managed to break one of the three mounting studs on each side with 4.5 and 7.5 mm left to work with. Not going to win any concours awards but decided to turn a couple sleeves and tap 6mm threads, then made a spacer that slides over so bolt would press it down and hold flapper box. I know you can get by with only 2 of 3, but for all the effort restoring the boxes I wanted all 3. Sharing in case someone else runs into this. I thought I heard of some other solution, but didn’t find it. Name: 203E9B67-2FD2-4EAE-AD77-FD1F6BBC5F4B.jpg

Breaking some of those studs is very common. Lucky you had a lathe to do the job.
