    S bumper rubber plug

Was there ever a factory fitted rubber plug in the front overrider hole is an S bumper 1973?

Not the 4 plastic plugs at the back in the luggage area but on the front of the bumper. I have never seen one on the many cars I have owned with S trim.

Part number is 311611849 according to my 73 parts manual but I have never seen one ever...anyone?

There are two versions of front bumper plugs:
    1965-72: 999.703.065.50 (PET 802-00 and 802-50) - soft version
    1973: 311.611.749 (PET 802-00) VW part - harder version
