New fuel tank fittings, not fitting!

    Hi all,

Trying to set up a new DANSK fuel tank for my 66 911. I cannot thread the FUEL LINE SCREEN fitting (901.201.023.06) or the FUEL TANK SCREW PLUG (900.219.001.30) into the two larger holes' (22mm). Are there different thread plugs/screen parts that have different threads than these at 22mm?

The tank's threads are not galled or damaged. I am able to thread in a spare 22mm drain plug from my oil tank by hand with no problems. The screen fitting, I have, appears to be the 10mm fuel line is the 8mm line fitting a different thread and or part number?

I reviewed an old thread showing part number 901.201.023.04 is this different than 06.
    .
Any assistance greatly appreciated. I have attached a couple photos of what I have.

    Thanks

If you have a metric thread pitch gauge it would be good to check the bung on the tank and see how it compares to the fitting. Sometimes when threads are machined the pitch may vary by a tiny amount. This may be addressed by running a proper tap through the hole. I do not know for sure, but I am guessing that is a M22x1.5. If the tank roughly specs in at that same pitch then buying a M22x1.5 tap should work for cleaning up the threads. Since this is an aftermarket tank my hunch is that's what's going on.

    Best regards,

    Thanks Brad,

The problem seems to be on the fitting end not the tank. I am able to hand thread a 22 x 1.5 drain plug in by hand. I also ran a tap thru just to be sure. The threads on the screen and fuel tank plug are not 22 x 1.5 a 22 x 1.5 die will not thread down them. (not sure what they are) I thought they were supposed to be 1.5?

Hoping someone might know if there are more parts numbers than the one's I have for screen options?
