Dash trim - radio install questions

    Guys
My 71 radio/trim was made to swing open for radio install, the upholstery is cut at end on the air/vent control unit…
The trim received for 70 is glued all the way across and the radio trim can be seen on the underside
Am I correct that cut needs to be made for the radio trim piece as the other photo?
    Thanks for assistance

The holes need to be cut , and the basketweave wraps around the metal insert only not the aluminum . The radio trim does not swing out but is removed to install the radio .
