    Fresh air blower box disassembly

I’m trying to disassemble the fresh air blower box to replace the blower motor seal and flapper rubbers but it won’t come apart. All the clips have been removed and the rear can be separated but the front appears to be glued or the two halves have fused together. Anyone else have this problem and is it a big deal if I don’t replace the flapper rubbers and fan seal? The motor is dusty but runs quietly, so I’m wondering if I should just leave it alone. Thanks. John

Once I had the clips off, mine came apart easily. Re the seals, mine were shot, and needed replacement

Tony, what year car was yours from? Mine is a 69’ , so I wonder if the early ones were glued after assembly at the factory.

    It’s a 69 also……there wasn’t any remnants of glue, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there

Make sure you have taken all the clips off. If I recall, some are almost hidden. My 71 had no glue and came apart.

Clips front and back are off and the back actually can be separated to a point but no way on the front. Looks like I’m going to have to find a replacement case or just live with the one I have. Thanks.

Have you tried gently heating it with a hair dryer ?

Just get an ex-acto knife and start at one end to gently open it. If its stuck someplace the thin ex-acto knife will help separate without having to pry.

Ed, it’s stuck end to end. I have to work it along the entire seam and that’s not easy on the “plateaus” where the lock rings go. I suspect some bonehead glued it. I’ll continue to work at it but I’m probably going to need a replacement case.
