    Weltmeister Harness Bar

Fits 72 and later 911s. Never used. It's been sitting in my garage since the day that I bought it. No, it won't fit your 69 - 71 911 or 912. Don't ask me how I know. Actually, you are welcome to ask. I knew better but bought the stupid thing, anyway. I paid the list price from Automotion, too.
    $100.00 plus shipping.

Somebody must want this thing? It would be great for the casual Track Day/autocross person. A cheap and non-invasive way to add a proper shoulder harness.

    Ok. I’ll ask….

Looks a lot like the Stable Energies Harness guide bar I use in my 1973 Targa with some guides for the harness straps.

It's a Weltmeister (In house brand of the original Automotion) bar. It was probably made decades before Stable Energies ever existed.
The reason it won't fit in a 69 thru 71 911 or 912 is because it is about 3" too long. 69 to 71 cars have the shoulder belt mount about 2/3 of the way up the B pillar. The mount was moved in 1972 to, approximately, 1/3 the way up the B pillar.
There is no way, other than cutting and sectioning the bar to achieve the needed length to use it in a pre-72 car. I wound up buying a Brey Krause harness bar, cutting and sectioning it to fit my 71 Coupe. I figured if I'm going to go to all that work, I might as well do it to the most expensive bar I could find. I'm very happy with the result, BTW.

Hi Jim, is the harness bar still available?

If it is, and if it will fit my Targa, second in line….
