    Guidance for painting a 1970 911

Looking for guidance on how a 1970 911 (non Karmann) should be painted from bear metal (what is body colour, black, black where, colour of guard, and sequence for applying guard)
    Thank you

Do some forum thread searches. There is a ton of info that has already been documented, pictures. Also a lot of discussions on all original low mileage cars with detailed photos that show the details.

Just repainted my 1972 and also tried to figure out what would be ‘correct’, going through the tons of info on the web.

    As I understood:
    - as of 1973 whole body was painted in body color, so inner wheel arches, engine bay and trunk were in color.
    - up to 1969: engine bay, trunk and inside wheel arches were painted black
    - in between: inside wheel arches black, but on engine bay and trunk it look likes the factory used to empty their paint pistols on it. Often you find pictures of originals with body color in the trunk, but rather a light spray with paint, than fully painted. The same for the inside of the smuggler box lid: it seems that you find them painted and black, as being original.

Perhaps some can correct and add to the above and help Sylvain on this.

Just a reminder to take LOTS of pictures as you go through the process. You'll be glad you have them in the future.
