    Wedge seat adapters for a 1970 with 1970's Recaro seats

    Good morning. It looks like people have used these but when I contacted the vendor to confirm they gave me an answer that didn't really make sense. They said their kits mount to the bottom of the floor when you'd really want/need them to mount on the existing seat mounts on the tunnel and longs.

    Has anyone here used them? How do they actually fit?

    It is possible the person responding was just not as precise as they could have been but want to make sure before ordering.

    Thanks!

    OK - maybe if I ask this a bit differently.

    For those that have mounted period but aftermarket Recaro seats did you make your own adapter that uses the existing seat mounts to bridge the narrower Recaro mounting point on the seats to the wider factory mounts on the body of the car?

    My Deser seats came with brackets that mount into the original seat slider points for the comfort seats. They also incorporate the seat belt mounts, so no additional brackets as per the factory setup.

    Effectively the brackets narrowed the gap, to allow for the narrower seat base.

    They don’t incorporate a wedge for seat height adjustment, although I did play around with placing washers under the front bolts when I fitted them, but went back to flush mounting them to the brackets.

    It might help if you told us which venders brackets you’re trying to fit?

    74 and later mount right to the floor. I was on the wedge sight recently and saw their 65-73 bases.

    Thanks for the responses.

    I could have been more clear, sorry. Was asking about Wedge Brackets kits;

    @66S - huh, both my 1974s mount on the side of the long and sills, so maybe later than 1974 had a change in mount location? Wedge Brackets does have floor mount options for G-body so cut over happened at some point to your observation.

    @classic - oh man, those look like nice seats.

    "Effectively the brackets narrowed the gap, to allow for the narrower seat base." - bingo, confirmation I was looking for. Thank you.

    Think I'll just fabricate my own.

    Thanks gentlemen.
