Sorry to say this but shafts may have corrosion that pretty much locks them in the bearings. I have removed quite a few that required cutting and milling to remove the accessible shafts and throttle valves followed by driving the shaft remnants out of the bearings.

    thanks for the reply's
I expected the worst due to siting in a field for 40 years and water marks in air box and "white" fluffy electrolysis deposits
one carb is way beyond saving and the other i bielieve falls into your worst case example
I will just keep moving forward
May I ask you opinion on the Spanish Weber IDA that are very available.
You may respond by private message if that is suitable.
    thank you

Webers with seized shafts and white corrosion are best left alone unless they are matched to a chassis of historic significance.

A customer send a new set of Spanish 46IDA3C Webers for me to disassemble, rebuild & test run. I was surprised by how nice they were. I now refer those seeking Webers for a project to buy the Spanish Webers since they are good quality and cost effective compared to buying used Webers and having a service provider re-manufacture them. I posted my observations in another thread on this site.

I have also heard from a handful of service providers I trust that have been pleased with the new Webers.

The Spanish 46IDA3Cs were copied from the earliest version with a progression pattern developed for the Carrera 6, 2-liter engines with 42mm main venturis. Later 46s revised the progression pattern to be a bit more suitable for less highly strung engines.

My understanding is if you buy from Pierce Manifolds they will re-jet the Webers to your specifications, otherwise you get generic jetting which is most likely inappropriate for your engine.

    Thank You for your reply
Great referral to Pierce in Hollister I have known of him but now I will focus on his service.
It would be nice to have that solution
50 years ago there was a guy in Novato The 914 Shop that did my solex for my 911 and they were so simple to dial in and ran perfectly.
I would not mind having that kind of an experience again
    thank you
