1970 Porsche 2.2L 911E Targa - Hemmings.jpg
Description:
This 1970 Porsche 911 E Targa was refurbished in Mexico before it was brought to the United States in January 2020, with work having included replacing body panels (quarter panels, rocker panels, and floor pans.), repainting the car, and refinishing the 15″ Fuchs wheels as well as refurbishing various mechanical systems. The matching numbers fuel-injected 2.2L flat-six drives the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. This 911E Targa is now offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, manufacturer’s literature, a tool kit, several keys, service records, and a clean Connecticut title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Conda Green (26) and features include a driver-side mirror, a Targa removable roof panel, Euro-style headlights, and a split rear bumper with bumper guards.
Fuchs 15″ wheels with black-painted recesses are mounted with 195/65 Vredestein Sportrac 5 tires. The suspension, steering, and braking systems are said to have been overhauled during the restoration and the car features Bilstein shocks at the rear. The ball joints and the brake rotors and pads were replaced in November 2020, and the brake hoses were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The front bucket seats are upholstered in black with patterned cloth inserts, while the rear seats are trimmed in black vinyl. The car features a dog-leg-pattern shifter, the leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a central tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles, the speedometer cable was replaced in November 2020, and total mileage is unknown.
The 2.2-liter flat-six was overhauled in Mexico during the restoration, an oil change was carried out in 2022, and the spark plugs, distributor cap, and two fuel injectors were replaced in Nov of 2023. A leak down test shows 8%, 10%, 9%, 11%, 12%, and 9% in cylinder 1-6 respectively.
Engine stamping *6201193* is shown above and matches the engine number listed on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 901 five-speed manual transaxle that was rebuilt in July 2021.
