69T - Need Assist. Engine Bay Wiring Issue

Hoping for an assist here. I took my guages out to be restored, and when I learned it was gonna be five months decided to pull the motor. Got all the work done, made it pretty and then decided to redo the wiring while in there and replaced the alternator, engine bay / tail lamp harnesses. Got it all back together, charged batteries, turned the key and nothin. I then noticed Rt RR park lamp was on and stays on. To make things worse, when I turn on LH indicator, the fuel pump goes on and off, clearly indicating something was crossed.

I've got headlights, dash lights light up, wipers ok, so I know my problem is in the rear and assume I put something together wrong. Last night after two hours of frustration I banged my head on the corner lid and bled all over the place do decided it was a sign to ask for help :-). The wing schematic in manual is great, but BHKZ unit, which my car did not have, confuses things (for me). It's so simple, I know I'm missing something and hoping some other T person tell me what I've done just by looking at it. Its a simple car, only has one relay for rear defrost so its really just the regulator, which has the red/brown/black from ALT harness + the blue wire going to the plug connector.

    • Tested and Ive got 12v at starter, rear main junction and on one pin of each tail lamp.
    • NO power at coil with ignition on.
    • NO license plate lamp lights
    • NO tail lamps

I keep looking at the fuel block with no wire coming off of it. I did have photos of that and it appears to be the same. Same with socket from yellow wire on the Engine Bay Harness, which is/was empty. But maybe its just a matter of the fuel pump power wire being swamped? Right now I have fuel pump power going to the body/tail lamp harness and ground which seems odd. Suggestions on what to test or look for next welcome and appreciated. I am guessing its staring me in the face and it just needs a fresh set of eyes. THANKS. Name: IMG_8535.jpg

    Confusing

I would start with why there is no power to the coil when the ignition is on. Does the radio come on when the ignition is on?

My 69 T has the original wiring only I have an MSD ignition now. Does your new wiring harness have the same wire colors as the original?

My fuel pump power comes from the same place as the coil power, if that helps

69 has the round connectors in front of the motor, I’d check that the plugs are in the right sockets first and then trace the wires from there as a start. An enlarged color wire diagram can help.

One obvious fault I see is the ground stud on left of engine bay, you have green wire to it, brown is ground, never green.

Thanks for the response. The new harnesses are color correct, the others are original with the exception of the fuel pump wires (someone changed ground from brown to green). Thanks for confirming fuel pump power. Headed out there again now......

It’s always a good idea to make your wires match the diagram.
It just makes it easier to work the wires, today, tomorrow and into the future.
Paint your wires, with a brush, if need be, it’s not hard. It will help you and the next guy.

Torch, Have you checked that the '69T diagram sold by VintageWiringDiagrams is correct? The actual '69T wiring diagram is unique in having been printed in B&W only.
