Finished in the sought-after color of Irish Green over a black interior with leather Recaro Sport Seats, this Porsche 911S is especially desirable for its external oil filler lid seen during the 1972 model year only. It is said to have been acquired by the second and current owner in 1972 and has received a pair of steel 911 ST fender flares, modified suspension, larger Fuchs wheels, and an upgraded 2.7-liter engine. Remaining with its near-lifelong caretaker, this 911S is now being offered for auction out of Massachusetts.
This Coupe came factory-finished in Irish Green, a historic Porsche color that was also chosen to represent the one-millionth 911 produced in 2017. Steel 911 ST fender flares were sourced from Germany and installed during the 1980s. The lower front and rear valences have been painted black, and a pair of vintage Carello driving lamps are mounted in front. Other equipment includes dual chrome mirrors, a chrome rear bumper bar, black stone guard decals, red-painted brake calipers, pop-out rear quarter windows, and a set of staggered 16” Fuchs wheels dressed in new Bridgestone RE-11 tires. The seller notes some areas of the car have been refinished including the hood and rear quarters.
The black interior includes a pair of leather Recaro Sport Seats, an air-conditioning system, and power-operated windows. An aftermarket Eclipse radio has been installed and a fire extinguisher is mounted on the rear central tunnel. Upgraded A/C lines have been fitted and the seller notes the system may require a recharge to blow cold.
The seller states a replacement 2.7-liter flat-six was installed along with a new clutch and pressure plate after the failure of the original 2.4-liter motor during the 1980s. The new engine is said to have been built and blueprinted by R&D Automotive and includes an upgraded CDI ignition module, updated valves, and stainless-steel SSI heat exchangers for a claimed output of 242 HP. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual gearbox. Suspension modifications include stiffer torsion bars, Turbo tie rods, and adjustable front drop links. The seller adds that the brakes include new pads and upgraded stainless steel lines. Routine maintenance is said to have always been kept up to date and the last major service was completed in 2018 including new torsion bars, spring plates, throttle linkage, shifter adjustments, wheel balancing, and alignment . . .'
