    I think it was the '66 race on 'Wide World of Sports' that I was in teenage shock that a helicopter couldn't keep up with a racecar...

    Things haven't changed that much, at least, the atmosphere hasn't.

    Thanks for the video.
    I think this the year that Ford used a Boeing 707 to deliver new windshields.

    Thanks for sharing this video Peter. Brought back many fond memories. I was at this race, Here are a few photos. I took these in the esses after the Dunlop bridge. The course has changed dramatically since 1967, all in the name of safety. It was amazing how close one could get to the track as opposed to today.

    1967 was a magical year for me. I drove a 67 VW bus, and bought my first NEW surfboard from Jacobs. Vasek Polak was directly across the street from Jacobs on PCH. My 912 POLO car at about the same time in June or July was being built. Of course I had no clue. My dad passed when I was 7. My mom was dating a guy who was a P51 pilot in Europe during WWII. He drove a 63 Split Window Fuelie and took me to the Trans Am/Cam Am races and the plane races out in Palm Springs. I lived walking distance from the Cove in Malaga Cove PV and surfed there all the time. I didn't have a care in the world. If I get Alzheimer's I'll probably be living in the year 1967. I'll probably think I was at Le Mans after watching that video again.
