    Need Diagnosis Assist w/Starter Issue

Likely a simple fix, but please help me save a few hours of my Saturday. Been sorting out my 69T and having just installed new shifter bushings, adjusting and test driving, stopped in for some gas. After filling got in, turned key and nothing. Push started, got home. I get no click when turning key, but can jump the solenoid with screwdriver and get it to engage so ruling out solenoid ---- Assuming problem is from Ignition Switch back, but hoping someone can tell me what to look test or look for next to narrow down problem. Dont want to spend all day messing with this. Thanks

When you jump the solenoid you get more voltage to it than thru the ignition switch. You need to test the voltage at the solenoid using the ignition switch circuit. If its the same as battery voltage then you need a starter, if less you need to find the drop. Sometimes it is minor corrosion at either the 14 pin or 12 pin connectors in the engine bay.

You might consider adding a simple relay to the starter circuit :

My 69 ignition switch started separating, intermittent starting, then would not start. There are “metal clips” that hold the front and rear of the ignition switch together. Removed switch, bent the clips back in place, all now works.

And you have to start at the battery and then those connections. Then you can move to the key, then other parts.
