Thread: Muffler options

    Muffler options

I have the SSI’s and Dansk muffler on at 2.7 MFI engine.

The Dansk is ok, but not the best sound.

Wondering what folks here have experienced as alternatives to the Dansk?

Not looking to go megaphones, not a track car, but something a bit more aggressive.

    Anyone use the SCART muffler?

Any and all views greatly appreciated.

Bert, I have a ‘71 with a 2.3, carbs and SSI. I found a used Bischoff, 2 in, 1 out, in good condition. Sounds good, not too loud and nice dyno numbers.

The Porsche Classic muffler on my 2.7 sounds good and is dyno proven to flow better than the Dansk.

+1 for Porsche Classic, but sound is stock (and great). Note that different mufflers may have a huge effect on AFR with MFI. We didn’t get my 2.2S to run well until using the Classic muffler. Some mufflers may require space cam modifications and you don’t really want to go there just for an exhaust.

I am also looking for a muffler for a new 2.7 build (9.5:1, MFI) with the larger SSI's and appreciate the Porsche Classic recommendation.

    Is this the one?

Do y'all have any suggestions on the best place to source it?

Thanks to the OP and the folks who have helped.

Put a Bischoff on today. Yup had to adjust the part-load and idle. Car now runs smoother than what was being achieved with the Dansk.

I have had similar experiences .... liked the SS Dansk but was curious about the Bishoff. Been years since running one. Installed the Bishoff and it was immediately familiar. Seems the back pressure complemented low speed driving, smoother, more torque. The 911S is a 2.8 liter.

Circling back to the original post, does anyone have any experience with a Scart muffler and mfi?

Chillin' in VT, I too would be interested in the answer to this question. The only thing I can tell from SCART video's (and admittedly videos don't give you the answers) is that it has an aggressive transitional sound at 4,000 rpm. It sounds cool, but that could get annoying fast.
