    Seat Rail Fastener Questions

Is the recipe (14) M6x15 plus (14) M6x20 zinc gold cheesehead bolts and lock washers? Can you use all of one size or the other? I just came across a fairly large cache of these that I didn't know I had - and I don't remember why I have them. Are these sizes used for other purposes? If these are right for the seat rails I'll probably put together a few kits.

    Thanks,
    JA

Good question(s)- the seat rail hardware differ I believe from SWB to the LWB cars, but I would like to understand the differences better since I am fortunate to have one of each.

    John,

What letters and numbers are embossed on the top of the hex bolts?

    John,
If you put kits together could you make me a set? Let me know and you can send them with the taillights.
    Thanks,

If looking for new versions, Stoddard sells sets that are not too expensive:

Gold color is what holds most of the seats to the floor. They are “low rise” cheese head Allen socket, with a thin black color split washer, not sure the name of this washer but it should be same diameter than the cheese head - I have been able to find replacements for these washers. I think from memory the long ones hold the slider rails to the floor and the shorter ones hold the bracket. You want extra thread on something that has high stress like the weight of the seat in a crash.

Sports seats have unique hardware holding the rails to the tilt and everything on the sports seats is silver. But holding sports to the floor are gold.

Want to go crazy - many 69-70 cars had black cheese heads for some reason - supply issues? Maybe. Some dimwitted concours judge knocked me on that once - sorry I was so correct you didn’t know that. But as you can see the 700 mile 911S which was a late 70S doesn’t have them.

Then on 73 they had a special washer hardware piece that connected 2 Allen’s in one. I believe this was for crash safety in 73 along with double locker requirements.

I recently removed these from an original model year 1972 comfort seat

    From left to right

Seat rail to seat bottom - M6 x 20 clear zinc with a low profile 4mm allen head and cutout at the end of the threaded area. Inscribed either Infa HK 8.8 or IMBUS 8.8. No lock washer . Qty 12 per seat

L-Bracket with rubber stopper - M6 x 20 clear zinc with a low profile 4 mm allen head and cutout at the end of the threaded area. Inscribed either Infa HK 8.8 or IMBUS 8.8. 6 x 18mm fender washer in clear zinc and no lock washer. Qty 2 per seat

Seat rail to black seat rail support bracket. - M6 x 15 yellow zinc with a 5 mm low profile allen head. Inscribed Ribe 8.8 and no lock washer. Qty 4 per seat

I've also attached another pic of the mix and match brands used to attach the seat rail to the bottom of the seat and a close-up of the cutout at the bottom portion of the threaded screw.
I don't have pics of the seat bracket and rail to the body but I'm sure the threshold side bracket is like the 700 mile S and I will have to verify the rail to car body on the tunnel side.
