    Looking for machine shop recommendations

I was planning to send the heads from my ‘72E to Ollie’s Engineering in AZ for rework (valves, guides, seats, springs, etc.) Their web site states that they currently are not taking in any head work project, indefinitely. Bummer.

I am hoping to find a shop in North Carolina (or adjacent states) as good and as experienced with air-cooled 911s as Ollie’s. Can anyone recommend one? I’d really appreciate it.

Not in NC, but Walt Watson at Competition Engineering in CA has been doing it for decades, is a great guy, and has reasonable turnaround times.

Billy Ring at Performance Auto Works in WV. Amazing work without the California surcharge. Not fast, but nobody who does good work is.

We have had wonderful experiences with Walt Watson in CA and Dick Elverud in Oregon.

Both are great guys and turned around great work.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Bob at Anchor Atlantic in New Jersey. They do ONLY Porsche 911 heads and they have been out there for 40 years. Heads can’t be told from new when you get them back. 30-45 days is a long wait with them. They have done at least 50 sets for me and never a issue.

I’ve only ever heard good things about Anchor Atlantic as well.

I’ve also used Craig Garrett in Michigan (found on Pelican) and he did nice work on a set of twin plug heads and valve covers for me. He’s a one man show I think but he’s got good reviews on the other Porsche sites for good work at a fair price and normally quick turnaround.
