Factory air filter box hose connections question - 911 SWB

I'd like to re-install my 1968 911 factory metal air filter assembly but I can't recall what is required from a water drain hose or other connections perspective. My car does not have the 68 air pump, BTW. I've done a lot of searches on this site and found a few helpful photos but I still have a few questions and would appreciate your guidance:

    1. What connects to the L-shape tube on the center rear of the air box? The PET and my parts manual show a part # 901.107.729 (Flame Protection Cartridge) in that area... does this part fit inside that L-shape rear tube? Is there any hose connection to the L-shaped rear tube?

    2. Where is the water drain vent located in the engine compartment? It seems to consist of a 7mm hose leading from under the air box assembly that connects to part # 901.108.029.00 (Outlet Tube Complete) and part # 901.108.297.00 (Valve). Where is the outlet tube/valve mounted? And what path does the hose take to connect the air box to them?

    Thank you,
    Andy in New Hampshire

In this photo, my first question relates to item #42 in the factory diagram (blue arrow).

My second question re: water drain relates to parts 45,46 and 47 (red arrow)

    Hi Andy,

    1. Correct the flame cartridge fits in the tube at the rear of the air box. It’s a press fit.

    2. The drain fits on the forward part of your engine tin, looking forward it’s on the right hand side.

#2 connects behind the oil cooler. There should be a hole in the sheet metal at that point. The vent at back of aircleaner then connects to the breather nipple on the side of the oil filler neck. The engine vent hose connects to the oil tank breather. And #2 is not a water drain, it drains oil vapor condenstate that collects in the filter.

X2 with Ed. Just put mine back on yesterday after messing with air screws. It does sound different, in a good way, with the top open. Only about a mile to get it up to temp for the air flow check.
