    Charcoal box and another question

I saw a post today about mounting the charcoal box and realized my car did not seem to have one. After a little investigation I found this free floating in the compartment in the frunk? Am I correct to assume this is the charcoal box. Also what is the large drain or opening in that compartment. There is an older rubber cap that seems to fit on it? Thanks for help with questions.Name: IMG_0916.jpg

    It is a common canister.
The charcoal does not go in that smuggler box,
It goes near the left battery.
You have to study someone’s car, for the lines….and study a diagram for the lines.
And it did use that clamp, that you probably saw.

That big hole, with the large cover. It part of the optional heater, or optional air conditioning.
    It’s not a drain.

But it is the beginning of a tunnel that leads the the grill in the backs seats, on the floor.
Some cars don’t have a grill, but closed plate.

Thank you. I figured the PO cut the hose and just was storing the charcoal box there. He was running one big battery and I am figuring the box was cut out to fit the battery. Now that I am back running two small batteries I will return it to the proper position. Is it okay to cap the opening. My car has a plate on the floor by the back seat

Yes. It was a return for the AC blower that was mounted in the smuggler box on the early cars. Cars without AC normally have a rubber cap over it.
