Our Speedster was bought as an all matching bare body by the previous owner from a guy who had preserved the car in gibbs oil from the 1960s until 2021 in a San Francisco basement. The original motor and gearbox are long gone.

The kardex shows this car was a white/red late '55 1600 "Normal" when new. No further delivery info besides it being sold through Hoffman.

The car now has a 1720cc big bore C motor on 40mm solexes and dual mount C gearbox, the ultimate driver combination for a 356. Both of these were built by Vic Skirmants of 356 Enterprises 10+ years ago. Vic is very well known in the 356 world for racing and motors based out of Michigan. The motor runs great and I just had a major service done on the drivetrain by Scott's Independent in Anaheim, CA. The suspension was modified to fit 356A style mounting points for better shock travel. Currently has Vredstein sprints on fresh technomagnesio alloy wheels. Stock 40mm drums. It has a ZF steering box which is a nice upgrade from the original VW unit. The car is lowered from stock as per a canyon carver and has a fresh set up by the gurus at Johnson's Alignment in Torrance, CA.

It has a full stock '55 Speedster interior, complete with the rare turn signal flasher arm, and is trimmed in a beautiful forest green on green carpet. No heater boxes are on it at the moment. The original 1950s Glaspar top was recently restored with new perspex and a white headliner by Fibersteel who remanufacture and make parts for the Glaspar tops.

Available to be inspected in Torrance, CA. Ask Price is $259,000. Motivated seller to make an offer.
