Mystery connections on 1969 911E...completely stumped???

    Hi Folks,

I am completely stumped on this one. The factory wiring schematic does not match what's in this car. It's an unmolested 69 911E that was converted to carbs back in the 70's. The black and purple wires from the CDS to the rest of the engine loom doesn't match. The wire from the CDS actally does connect to the RPM transducer but does so with a black and purple wire. The same black and purple wire that goes to the terminal connection doesn't have a home? All the other wiring matches the schematic. I understand that these cars have some creative variability to the wiring on 1969 E models. There are a few other mystey wires laying on the engine but I suspect these are for the now missing FI system.

Any guidance is appreciated. CDS unit must be bad or I am missing somethig...wired a lot of baskets cases over the years, but this one is a challenge.

    Is your Tach working ?

The black purple should be connected to the ballast ( or intermediate unit) if you have it :

If you don't have it, it should be connected to the distributor :

The 2 wires on your last picture should be connected to the microswitch that activates the speed relay (transducer) :

The microswitch is probably still attached to your mfi intake stacks...you do not need that part with carbs. Its unusual to read unmolested and 69 911E with carbs together
