    Question Power windows and locks?

My questions on my 70E continue.

The 911E was a Canadian delivery and lived its entire life in the Montreal area until I bought it and imported it in 2015. The car was made into a short hood SC/Carrera look sometime in the past. I have reverted back to the long hood and have endured endless rust and body restoration over 4+ years. Mechanically the car will be close to stock with the exception of a Euro SC motor I have had since college.

Today's question is in regard to the doors, more specifically the wiring in the door for power windows and locks. I believe the power windows were an option available in 1970, but I do not believe the power locks were available. The wiring for both is how the car showed up at my doorstep.

Yes, power windows, but I have no idea when power locks came in; I've never seen it as an option. It would be interesting to see the factory data on the car.

is it possible someone bolted later doors onto the car, and since the door lock modules were in those doors, they decided to wire them up and make them work? How about some pics of the doors, or the wiring or the door lock switch on the dash

Unlike the 356, 911 doors will fit other 911's.
Makes the most sense if it were "forward-dated".

I am certain that the door lock mechanism on the car was “forward-dated” since the door handles on the car were of a later model 911, and had a wire going to it. I have reverted back to the original style chrome exterior handles. I see no option for a power lock set up for a 1970.

Interesting how much effort was given to the early 911s to make them look like G bodied cars. I do recall when one could buy old 911s for less than $5000 all day long when I was in college

Unless the door has four sets (two each) of captive nuts at the inside lower section of the door it is not a 1970 door - or anything from 1969 - 1973. In 1974 and later doors the door panel changes resulted in changes to how the panels were secured.

What are the captive nuts for? What would the nuts secure?
