Taillight and turn signal lens seals + chrome spraying the housings

    Hi Everyone,

I am finally nearly done with restoring my taillight and turn signal housings.

I will use new seals for the lenses. However I'd like to hear from you if the lens seals have to be glued to the housing or car they be simple pulled over it with no glue, making it easier to check for rust, cleaning or replacing them.

As my car is an US export 911T, I think to the contrary of EU cars, the inside of the housing was chromed and not white. In order to have the factory finish, can you tell me if the whole interior part where the bulbs are were chromed or only some portions.

I am doing to use Dupli-Color silver chrome with a black primer as a first coat. Hope it will turn our nice

Thanks a lot for your help !

    Philippe

On my '69 USA 911T the entire insides of the taillight and turn signal housings was chromed.

I usually try to put them on without glue, only using glue in places where they may try to slip off.

Hi Rich and Ed, thanks for your replies.

Ed, just gluing a few spots, which I would prefer, you are not facing water leak in the housing when it rains?

The gasket stops the water, not the glue.
