S Hose Clamps Tightened Fully but still Loose

I bought a new S Hose because the original seemed to be leaking. When I installed the new hose, I found the original clamps don't tighten enough before running out of "clamp". Has anyone else run into this and found a smaller appropriate clamp? I hate not using the original clamps, and can't understand the clamps not working. They are the 999.512.091.00 S 40/15 SKZ O.E. clamps.

Well, once again I've answered my own question. Bought from SMC, unfortunately undersized from the original. Quite expensive, besides. Anyone have a source for 2 Norma clamps 36/15 SKZ?

That was going to be my first response, is the hose the same O.D.? It looks like a different surface finish, the original being smooth. I'd try Bel-Metric for the clamps.

Thanks, Ed. I'm not entirely sure the original hose was bad. I will inspect it now that it's off the car and re-use it if it looks ok. It had oil on it, but may have been coming from the nearby oil cooler line. (more$$) I contacted SMC and they immediately offered in-store credit, which is fine with me. I was ready shelve the part and eat the cost, and write it off to over-hasty replacement of a part I should have inspected more closely. Bel-Metric has Norma clamps in the proper range, but not the original width. Anyway, a big never mind, but others be careful when ordering this part. Pelican has original Porsche for nearly $300 and an aftermarket for $90. Make sure the outer diameter is correct if you are wanting to stay original.

The original hose clamps are stainless, new factory replacements are not. The stainless bolts are a little fragile, but these are used on the suction hoses so no oil pressure on the hoses/clamps.

    Wrap something around the hose?

Not to belabor the point and further expose my rash buying behavior, I inspected the original hose and it appears to be fine. Thank you for pointing out that it is a suction line! Even though it is called a Suction hose, it hadn't dawned on me that it wouldn't be under pressure (my DUH), so the clamping pressure is not as critical. The original hose fits quite securely on both ends, however notice how much smaller the outer diameter is in the clamping area. As per jaudette3's suggestion, I wrapped that area with electrical tape to build up the outer diameter in order to get a better grip with the clamps. Thanks
