    Question Koni front inserts

Today I am changing out my front shock/inserts. The car has konis apparently. I struggled with glan nuts but the finally came off. My inserts seem to have failed miserably. The tube is full of oil. The insert seems to have come apart sometime in the past. Am I missing anything or something?

That's the way the original inserts were done, open reservoir, oil filled. Your new inserts will be self contained. You can leave a small amount of oil in the housing which will help with heat transfer on the self contained units. A small amount of oil will fill the housing and possibly run out the top as you install the new insert.

Make sure to use the gland nuts included with the Koni inserts not the ones that came with the factory inserts.

Thanks. That’s exactly the information I needed. It seems that there is a piece still stuck in one of the tubes that I need to fish out.

Yes, there is a locating spring at the bottom of the tube, I have a thread somewhere here on the full process to remove and replace the front Koni inserts. Just follow that and you'll be good.
