    Beginner needs help!!!

    Hi Guys

I am a total beginner-it is my first time restoring an early 911-I work with a mechanic in the south of France who specialized in Porsche but not the F model

I have read a lot of posts on this site and others, try to educate myself, done some research but I am currently in a dead end.

    I am currently rebuilding a 911T 1969 2.0 engine

I DO NOT want to increase the HP, the cylinders, etc...I am trying as much as possible to redo the engine as it was originally specified-the car is matching-and will be for street use only by the sunday driver that I am-Plus in France it is illegal to increase performance of a vehicule outside of the manufacturer tolerance.

I need to replace the cylinders and pistons to the original 8.6:1 compression ratio (and I know it s slow).

The pistons have been discontinued for years, sellers on ebay or else refuse to truly specify and verify what they sell, I did not find any good looking refurbished parts.

I am currently losing my mind looking for the right parts.

From what I gathered so far, since I want to something simple, plug and play, the best option for me would be maybe to:

    Use a set of 80mm from 65 to 68 2.0 with a 9.0 ratio-these are fairly available
    or
    Use a set from 911 E 2.0 with a 9.0 ratio-these can be bought new from Mahle

But I am not sure what increasing the compression ratio would mean for the rest of the engine-the durability etc..

Of course if I also put a request in the "parts wanted" section of the forum, in case someone on the forum do have the parts.

I need all the help I can, thanks in advance

I would use the 9-1 early pistons if you can find a set at a good price. Why they made 2.0E 9.1-1 I don’t understand. New Mahle sets come in Nikasil cylinders which presents the question do you need piston squirters installed in the case? Wossner sells a nice forged low expansion piston 9-1 in an 80.5 size so you could bore your iron cylinders and look original. No hot rods in France? Mon Dieu

    Thanks!
I found this set that looks pretty good and is fully refurbished-the seller is professional and have answered all my questions so far
    https://www.ebay.fr/itm/235838807253

And no, no hot rods! I mean illegally they are some...legally you could do one but plenty of paperworks and additional headaches!

Try eBay item 267083656664,listed as 2.0E but they are in cast iron cylinders, the pistons are not S, N or E and have that weird T look. KS made sets of E pistons in cast iron cylinders but I’ve never seen Mahles like that. The cylinder exteriors look practically new but ask for more photos of the wear surfaces. Good price, $750 and free ship

Ok Seller admited is set is a mix bag...so
I have also found some pretty good KC piston 80160 that reads on top 80,96. Does that mean that they could fit my cylinders honed to 81mm and where would I find the piston rings to fit such pistons ? Thx
