Solex air housing oil drain question

What I have may be mismatched parts. I have a Solex air filter housing that has a drain tube, suggesting there would be a way to expel oil that enters the housing through engine breathing. I am familiar with the condensation/collection tube that mounts by the oil cooler that takes oil from the housing and vents oil to the ground. Problem I have is that the engine sheet metal at the oil cooler does not have the 8mm(?) hole for the tube extension. Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks.
