Early 62L CIS Fuel Tank vs non-CIS

My wonderful wife bought me a genuine Porsche fuel tank for Valentine’s Day after hearing me complain about issues with my new Dansk tank (leaks). It was delivered today and it looks beautifully made but it’s clearly a CIS tank; internal swirl pot, center mounted strainer, return line port, etc. The Part number on the tank is 911 201 904 02, which is correct for a 65 thru 73 (non- CIS) tank. The vendor is contacting Porsche to see if there was a mistake or if they’re selling one tank for non-CIS and CIS applications.

Will this tank work in a non-CIS car? Obviously, I’ll need to account for the different port configuration. I don’t need the small 8 and 10mm non-threaded ports. Any suggestions on how to block those off? Thanks! John

Hi Ed, the car is a 69’ 912 with solex carbs. The left side tank fuel outlet is 10mm but my car is set up for 8mm. Obviously, I have no need for the return line port which is 8mm. Not sure how I would adapt the 10mm outlet for an 8mm hose (barbed adapter?) I could use the large threaded opening for the sock filter from my old tank has but then I wouldn’t be taking advantage of the swirl pot fuel feed.
