    charcoal canister

Antother question I have today is regarding the fuel system charcoal canister and "bleeder container, " is it necessary that I reinstall these items? The car did not have them when I started my restoration process.

Assuming you will be using an original style fuel tank, those contraptions and all of the associated hoses (from front to rear) are designed to vent fumes and event excess fuel...otherwise those fumes can collect in the trunk and find their way to the interior cabin and be unpleasant.

The European cars did not have these , so you could copy that system .The vent hose will exit by the front bumper bracket . Fumes will not collect in the trunk , but maybe your garage .

    I like that idea better.
What tubing works best for venting of gas fumes?

For the Euro system, you just need the one black plastic box (forgot the proper name) that is mounted behind the gauges. It collects the fumes from the tank, and allows them to vent via a smaller pipe that runs to the front of the car. No fumes in the cabin if the box is not leaking.

And I can report that with 5 or 6 years under my belt, that this hose stays pliable and maintains its original yellow colour (i.e. doesn't turn hard and brown like the cheap stuff).

Thanks for the insight. I looked at their website, what a resource! Do you happen to recall what size internal diameter of the hose you ordered?

Small hose is 3/8" ID and and 1/2" OD and larger hose is 5/8" ID and 7/8" OD is what I have used. Line (part?) numbers are 5552K27 and 5552K31 respectively from McMaster-Carr
