    RHD 1967 911S coupe questions

Having obtained a 1967 RHD 911S coupe a couple of months ago I have been working through a number of jobs to correct a few details from a restoration undertaken about ten years ago by the previous owner.

The car currently does not have a handbrake boot although it does have a leather gear lever boot; I had assumed this was maybe an aftermarket part fitted by the previous owner, however, having discussed with another UK based owner of a RHD 67S his car also has what looks to be an identical leather gear lever boot together with a matching leather handbrake boot! So was this a common thing on some 67S, or maybe just RHD, or maybe just UK RHD?! (There is no mention on the Kardex of either car)

To complicate matters even more my handbrake has a hand throttle on the left hand side (like my '68 car had), again interested to know of any other 67S examples?

Any thoughts or known original comparisons would be gratefully received.

    Thanks
    Tim

Thanks for that, interesting, do you think it could have been added at a later date or do you think it was present from new?

Present from new. Some will chime in but my guess is the tubs were only built that one way.

Sorry I can't show the handbrake boot since this is all disassembled but my very original RHD 67S has this little lever in front of the gear shifter but I think it controls the heater ducts rather than hand throttle.

    Hi Andy

Yes mine has the heater control in front of the gear shift like in your photo but with the hand throttle on the handbrake as well (see below)

67 s as a rule didn't have hand throttles, but its very likely that some late 67's got the upcoming 68 change.

Is the hand-throttle connected Tim? Does it work?

    Hi Robert

    Yes....and yes.

Kagawaa - we did think this could be a RHD or UK/RHD thing, although my car having been ordered through the UK distributor AFN was a factory collection.

Interesting - maybe tends to suggest hand throttle was original to the car? As you say, there are other RHD cars - not all supplied by AFN - with leather gear lever boots, but I'm not sure what determines whether they were fitted or not. AFN did quite like to up-sell options!
