looking for information on early sport seat tilts

Can anyone here help with information on the attached photos of supposed early tilts for buckets or sport seats? I am not familiar , but I trust one of you can help me identify these tilts.

    Thank you. Todd

Those are not Porsche, maybe BMW. The release lever looked nothing like that on Porsche versions.

What kind of BMW is that supposed to be? What does the release lever have to do with the vehicle? In the 1960s and early 1970s, there were essentially two manufacturers of sports seats/buckets in Germany: Recaro and Scheel. These, of course, also produced brackets for various car brands and vehicle types. When it came to design, it didn't matter whether it was BMW, Porsche, or Ford. What's vehicle-specific about the brackets is the hole pattern on the underside (matching the original mounting holes in the standard seating). The bracket shown is definitely not a Recaro. It's from Scheel. The hole pattern seems to fit a Porsche 911. Just try it out if you have a 911 handy.

I hope I was able to help a little and the translator found the right (nice) words.

    Regards, Uwe

Lol, Uwe always so friendly. Mate, I have no idea what BMW because I know nothing about BMW. I just know that BMW also had some Recaro Sports Seats in them, they were slightly different, and that these tilts look sort of similar to a sport seat tilt but they are not Porsche units. So I was guessing.

If you knew what they are just tell us and we learn.

Having knowledge about rare seats is not some old man pissing match competition.

Hi Mark, I've already written my assessment above. Please read it again. The brackets don't make a difference between sports seats and bucket seats. They're always the same - exception: the heavy brackets for Porsche models from 1969 onwards, but that's another story. The brackets for BMW and Porsche are different, as mentioned above. I can definitely rule out BMW. But ultimately, brackets are always just an ugly pile of black-painted flat steel. scheel produced over 200 different ones for all car brands/types. So, Todd, hold the bracket in your Porsche and see if it fits. I'm confident.

    Regards, Uwe

Thank you Uwe @recarno and Mark @VintageExcellen both for the information. I appreciate your input and I know each of us has certain knowledge and your taking the time to share it.

I am looking for a proper tilt for a Recaro sport seat to match the other Original Recaro tilt in my 68' 911L - if anyone has one for a fair price. This one although correct for a scheel seat in a Porsche does not match my other title frame.

    Thank you all again. Todd

Those are Scheel bases for 911.

Hi Todd, your scheel bracket also fits Recaro seats without any problems.

I have a pair of right/left 1968 Recaro brackets. But I don't want to separate them, so I'm only selling them as a pair. Alternatively, I have several rigid Scheel brackets for both sides. You could use your folding scheel on the passenger side and a rigid one on the driver's side - that's how I've always driven. Feel free to let me know if you're interested.

By the way, the folding scheel bracket is quite rare. Don't sell it too cheaply ;-)

    Regards, Uwe

    Uwe

How much would you sell the pair of Recaro seat frames for? What is the folding scheel bracket worth? Would you take the folding scheel bracket I have in trade/partial trade?

    Thanks Todd

Hi Todd, I'm in Spain now. Send me a PM, and we can take a look after I get back. I don't want to trade anything, though—I'm liquidating my collection.
    regards
    uwe
