    FS: 1968 Recaro Sport Seats

Up for sale is a very well preserved original and rare set of Recaro Sport Seats. Both seats have their original upholstery in black vinyl and basketweave. Both seats were made in 1968 according to the date stamp on the seating foam. The seats are without headrest which makes them rare and ideal for an early SWB Porsche.

One seat is pristine. The other one has some imperfections (tears and scratches). In the past somebody looked for the headrest holes by puncturing the fabric luckily no material was lost. I managed to repair all of it with patching (see additional repair pictures in the second picture series)

The seats come with original Recaro rails and knobs. All of them are in good shape. The recliners work flawlessly.

Such a set is ideal for any early 1968 SWB Porsche. If you car has a basketweave dash this is your chance to do an important upgrade.

I have collected many seats in the last couple of years. This set is the first and maybe the last one I find in this condition. Very original, from 1968, without headrests…Unique

Price: 7500 USD, world wide shipment 300 USD. I also have a repro fixed or tilting frame available if needed.

Have a great weekend everybody, Greetings Adriaan

E fan you come up with some nice seats. You posted about a lone '68 sport seat late last year. Original as I remember. Why does the basket weave look different on this pair you just posted? They look recovered to me, not sure. But the basketweave is different between the two '68 ss posts. Did the pattern change in mid year?

Thank you Henry for your kind words, I am not sure if this is a one year only set, maybe it was possible to order sport seats without headrest in the later years who knows.

Steve, thank you for your comment you have a good eye. I still have that seat and when I read your comment I went to my workplace to compare. Below you see the pictures. I think the basketweave is the same but it changes due to wear (weight and intensive use). Besides the seats for sale are thoroughly cleaned. The other one is not. Sometimes I buy a seat in a terrible state and the basketweave is even more different because of dirt (see picture no 5). So I believe the seat with the perforated bolster is more worn compared to the set for sale.

PS I have collected many seats for the last couple of years now but there are far more knowledgeable recaro specialists around I hope they can comment on this matter too.

    Good news!

No extra Trump tariffs on items 25 years and older! These seats were made in 1968

    Have a great weekend everybody.
