    Question Stuck hood.....

I recently installed a new hood latch for my 70E. The hood is now stuck closed. Luckily I have the fuel tank out of the car, but still can not get the hood to release. I have access to the latch and can manipulate the release of the latch itself but there is no give to the hood. I am now puzzled

Good luck , you're not the first person to whom this has happened . You may have to unscrew the latch . Something is not aligned .

When you get the hood open try my adjustments posted years ago.
I unscrew the pin and then take off the spring and screw just the pin into the latch plate by only a few threads, then I pull the hood release cable and clamp it full open with a needle nose vice grip. Now I can lower the hood and see if the pin is centered into the hole, by using a light and mirror to see the exact entry point. When you think you have it centered you should be able to lower the hood and pin into the receptacle and NOT feel any resistance as it moves in and out indicating it is perfectly centered.

Been there.. Nice that you have access to the trunk area from under the car. I would use Ed's method to hold the latch open with a set of vice grips on the wire. Once you have that done see if you can push the pin one way or the other using a long screwdriver. I think you can get to the bottom of it from the access hole in the sheetmetal covering the back side of the lower latch assembly. Round hole in the center of the photo..
