What is the best polish and technique to bring the lustre back to the wheels? One has a chemical looking stain on it. The car is being painted and the wheels are pretty good but need a little work. Thanks.....

If those are original Porsche Fuchs rims they are anodized. Do not polish them unless you want them shiny or are prepared to re-anodise them

Get some petroleum jelly (Vaseline) & rub it into the wheels. Leave it overnight then rub off with a soft cloth.
Repeat as necessary.
You should find that this treatment (which incidentally was recommended by the Factory) will significantly improve the appearance of your wheels.

Andy is correct here. It will last a few weeks of constant driving and looks good.

The Vaseline helped a little (three aplications). I still have several chemical looking stains on two them. So to restore the wheels I need to... Strip them of remaining paint, re-anodize and then repaint?????
To refurbish your rims they need to be cleaned and stripped of paint and anodising, then the rims will need to be machined to remove the inevitable curb rash and corrosion pits from the rim upstand. Then polish the rim and petals, anodise the whole lot and paint.

Nick. this is a task I would like to undertake. Are the methods and chemicals trade secrects? Thanks
I take my rims to a wheel refurbishment company that puts them in a tank of very nasty liquid that takes off all the paint anodising and brake dust. They also machine the rims for me then I get them polished and anodised elsewhere. I am sure if you look in yellow pages you will find companies local to you that can do the different jobs for youAre the methods and chemicals trade secrects?
