    911 sport seats photos wanted

Hi- I am rerstoring a set of Recaro sport seats, look like they are 1970 vintage (or so) with headrests. The seats are missing the sliders and mounts, and may have been modified to boot. Any photos of the bottoms, sliders, front etc. greatly appreciated. My seats have the fore-aft adjuster rod poking through the lower front vinyl. This may be a modification?
    Thanks
    Steve

Fore aft adjustment poking through the front indicates 67/68 sport seats OR, the Recaro aftermarket (identical physically) seats sold through various outlets till the early 70's or so.

1969 and later sport seats have the fore aft adjustment built into the bottom bracket.

911 1968 style sport seat photo wanted

Hi- Thanks for the replies. I still could use a photo of the front bottom of these seats. I have the 1968 style with the fore-aft adjuster lever attached to the inside of the seat frame, as in the previous photos. How to upholster around the adjusting lever?

    Thanks
    Steve

I am not an upholsterer but I believe the way to do this is to remove the locking arm, upholster the seat bottom then poke a hole and re-install the arm.

Why all the fuss over these seats? I've read posts stating that they weigh a ton, every bit as much as standard seats. So therefore, shouldn't we who have them just sell 'em for whatever pittance we can get, and go to whatever weighs less?

    pwd72S,
Be careful. With that kind of talk, the Super Secret Sitze Stasi may consider you a subversive and come by your house tonight and do some redecoratin'.
After all, if early recaro sport seats become passé, Soteric, SWB Sam and a few others on the squad may stand to lose a chunk of their retirement savings due to all the "rapidly depreciating" inventory they have been building up....
