    Plastic between door and panel

Guys, I remember seeing pics here of the "moisture barrier" plastic that fits between the door and the door panel, but darned if my limited search skills could find them. Can anyone help? Evren seems to need to fabricate a pair for his car. I'll send him a link to this thread, so he can check it when he wakes up. Thanks...

Basically, anything plastic will work. I've taken apart cars that had trash bags used as the barrier. Something a little stiffer and a little thicker would be better, of course. I don't think this is a concours item; whatever works, works. Now, a thin strip of dum-dum putty to hold the plastic in place is the way many cars had this attached and that would be around all the holes, not just the outside perimeter. This allows removal in the future with minimal clean up. If Evren can find it, 6 mil painter's plastic would be just about right.

Not official Porsche restorer's advice, just a practical solution.

The clear polypropylene sheet you get at home depot works great. I trim it up and use butyl rubber tape to adhere it. Looks great and is super durable.

Thanks guys...I'm thinking Evren will find this useful.

    yes any good weatherproof plastic...

my painter hates me now b/c I used silicone seal to stick it to the door once... so use that rope putty stuff instead I guess.

thanks all - my passenger side window mechanism just failed again, so I will be taking the door panel off soon. Will source some plastic film to put in there...
ps: Milt, your seats should finally be on their way to Istanbul -- today they are at the shipping docks in NJ, waiting to be loaded on a boat headed here...

For $7, there is no reason not to use the appbiz barriers described above. They come precut with all the right holes, they are the perfect weight, etc. I put a pair on my doors about a year ago and love them.
