For those who don't know, the wreaths hanging on the wall in the #3 pic are traditionally given to the race mechanics by the drivers for winning at the Nurburgring...
It's only 1969 and that's already allot of wreaths...... with allot more to come...

That photo with the red circle has an interesting story. An Italian journalist (a Ferrari spy, no doubt!) was in the factory and stumbled upon the workshop where Porsche was secretly building the 16 cylinder version of the 917 motor. Someone quickly threw a coat over the motor to hide it. There's another photo I've got somewhere that shows part of the motor exposed and a mechanic standing next to it. Hans Metzger got wind of this and had a couple of doctored photographs made up. They show the 16 cylinder next to the 12 cylinder, except they cut & pasted a smaller photo of the 16 cylinder (way before the days of 'Photoshop' of course!). They then leaked the photos to the press, saying this was simply the new version of the 5 liter motor, not the monster motor it actually was .....
Another interesting sidenote: the 16 cylinder was, of course, prepared for the CanAm series. John Wyer was told that the 16 was in preparation and Wyer wanted to run a team with Jo Siffert as driver. Wyer was at the factory and asked Ferry Porsche about the 16 and was told, 'we have no 16 cylinder engine!'. Ferdinand Piech than took Wyer to the shop and showed him the 16 saying 'My Uncle is unaware of the existance of this engine'.![]()
