I need to move a car from Phoenix to Laredo, TX, could someone please recommend a reliable, affordable transport company. The quotes I'm getting seem really high.

Hi Henry,
Who have you contacted so far and what have the quotes been? Just curious what the rates are right now myself. I have used Intercity, Passport, Horseless Carriage (not too impressed), Reliable (very impressed), and several smaller outfits with small trailers.

I have 3 quotes, one from the seller for $900 (cheapest), one from a company called AAA and one from a company ebay recommends (can't remember the name), which is the most expensive one, around $1,900. My initial thought is that it would be around $600.

I have used Intercity twice with very good results over 10 years.
I have also used Dependable Auto Shippers, recommended through Ebay, with unsatisfactory results - I paid for enclosed shipping but the car was scheduled to "sit outside on the terminal lot" for over a week, and the detergent that they used to wash the car with was very abrasive. Wouldn't use DAS again.

Thanks,
DAS is the expensive one @$1,999. Has anyone used Door2door Autotransport? I just got a quote from them for $485! The price is pretty good, now I'm worried about the quality.
Passport is $1,299
NATransport is $799
Jayhawk is $895
A-AAA Autotransport $995 (enclosed). Does anyone have experience with them?
I'm still waiting for Intercity
Also, I have no experience with this, if I'm transporting a convertible, is an enclosed transport my best bet?
Henry
You could always just FedEx it . Get a quick quote here...http://passport.fedex.com/quote/default.shtml

are u looking for the cheapest way possible?
you can hire someone to drive it through the drive away companies that are fully lic. bonded and they are next to nothing. usually college kids or someone that needs to get a free ride that way. few hundred bucks at most.

you might only wait a little while for a quote from intercity, you will probably wait a very long time for them to move the car.
I had them promise me the car would be picked up "next week" for 6 weeks in a row, before I finally gave up, fly down, and drive the car home.
I will never let anyone I know suggest intercity without telling the story.

When I purchased my 70E I needed to get it transported
from Chesapeake, VA to Durango, CO. Keep in mind this is not a direct route.
Most of the quotes were about the same $1800
I called Intercity, Fed-ex, DAS, Horseless etc...
Intercity was the quickest with a quote, but like Lewis said, they started to
string me along on the pick-up dates.
I called http://www.sundayautotransport.com/, spoke w/ Charlene, she went out of her way to figure out how to get my car ASAP.
Car was enclosed, covered & she gave me drivers cell #.
Driver called when he was in Nashville, TN, headed up to VA, when he pciked the car up & all along the way until he dropped the car off early on
a Sunday evening. Great service ! I would definately use TST again !

Get on the internet and get a buch of quote if you haven't already, should be less than $1000. Are you trying to ship it enclosed? I would just drive it back if it was me. Make sure you check BBB records.
