Best fight I ever saw was Hagler/Hearns...

Really, I never saw that one, send me the link. You and I used to gang up on Tabs in the old days. I saw him at Ventura years ago, he was looking for me and asking people to point me out, thank god I was as illusive as the Yeti. He looked as one would imagine, sloppy.
There might be footage out there somewhere. I saw it on closed circuit. Best championship fight I ever saw. And yeah, I saw "the thriller in Manila", "the rope-a-dope in Zair" (sp?), Saw Cassius Clay drop Sonny Liston in round 1. Saw George Foreman lift Frazier off the canvas with one punch while hearing Howard Cosell sream: "Frazier is down...Frazier is down!" Still, as few rounds as it was, Hagler/Hearns was all out WAR, and as far as I'm concerned on the top of the list of championship fights. Pissing contests between early 911 "players" bore me....I really don't care who can pee highest up the hydrant. BTW, in an earlier life, I was an amateur photog. Anybody who bids on these "original negatives" is a fool...back in the day, I had a "lens" that screwed into my Pentax. Load the camera with film, slip a slide (transparency) in the front, point to a good light source, and click away. The focal length was pre-set, so you had all the duplicates you wanted for the price of drug store processing, black & white OR color.

Agree 100%. The first round of Hagler/Hearns is the most exciting boxing Ive ever seen. The first time I saw it, I was really surprised they both made it through round 1. Too bad the fight was basically over after round two.Originally Posted by pwd72s

Paul, H/H is the only fight I've ever seen closed circuit. That first round was unbelievable!

Wasn't it? I wonder if there is a video available? I'm not big on collecting movies, but that would be worth having. I never did hear the announcers...the crowd in the closed circuit room was screaming. I was probably hollering as well, just didn't realize it. Wow, what a fight!![]()

I agree. Boxing has degraded. (hmmm have we done enough to move this to OT yet?)We just didn't realize what a time it was, having Ali-Frazier-Foreman around all in the same time. One laugh I had...Johnny Carson, host of the tonight show...guest George Foreman, prior to his first comeback fight. Johnny asked if George's opponent was a good fighter, expecting the usual answer. George surprised all by saying: "God, I hope he's a TERRIBLE fighter, Johnny."
