When the spoiler bumper first appeared in the '72 Model year, it didn't take the fiberglass guys long to begin cranking out replicas. Also, the "S" front bumper could be ordered as an option on the lesser models in '72 and '73. Take a magnet with you...it's easy to tell the difference between glass & steel.

It must have been an option. Here is my car without one.Originally Posted by beginner

It was an apperance package. S gauges a T tach, S side trim and S bumper. I have seen this most on the 73.5 Ts. I have heard of one guy that bought the package on a 73.5T and installed a S engine. Why you ask???? He wanted to pay cheaper insurance. That was the time they were charging more for the higher performance cars.

73.5 was the last opportunity the factory had to get rid of the remaining bumpers in stock prior to the 74 impact bumper design which changed everything. You'll find many 73.5's with many nice S pieces like the S bumper, S brakes, sport seats etc....

OK, I have to chime in here. I've read in many books that the S spoiler was standard for all 73MY models.

Those weren't original to the car and I absolutely HATED them ... now they're cool, I guess. Always wanted to get a set of proper Fuchs, but never did ....
