False advertising...the ad says "as the car left the factory". No it's not, it's been restored. Beautifully so, but still...restored.

Probably better than when it left the factory. That is one nice looking car. Of course I'm partial to Silver 2.4 S's.![]()
I sent an email inquiring about the price - should be interesting.

I inquired about the car before because I was curious and wanted to know how much he was asking, and he told me around the 40-45,000 EURO range. As I see it in the picture and the way it is decribed, that is a hell of a deal. I am not ready to buy 2.4S, but if I had the money to spend, this car would definately be one to seriously consider.
So that's about $49,000 - $55,000 USD..... hmmm
Yea but its only a coupe, they made some 1750 of these, but only 989 TARGAS, in the year of 1972. To bad its not a TARGA. JIM![]()

My low mileage Targa used to leak air. When I did a quick lane change on the freeway the center of my targa top would pop up just a little and it created a wind noise. This was on a 6 year old Cal car without any rust with sport bilsteins and 7 and 8's but it was still a Flexy Flyer.
So rain or wind they do fail.
Coupes with sunroofs can have problems too if the water drain channels get debris in them. Been there too.
Lastly regular coupes have less of a tendency to have water or wind problems.
Still love them all but I have a hierachy of needs.
Cheers

I just talked with a gentleman(Bob) who has a silver 72S S/R coupe, who is currently advertising it in the AZ Republic (Phoenix, AZ) for $60k. He has owned it since 1974, and it sounds like a very well maintained car. Recaros, rebuilt gear box and engine, approx. 75k mi. The car is currently in AZ, but he lives in Colo. 480-471-3475 in AZ, or 303-681-2868 in Colo, or his cell 303-902-4281. He is not familiar with this site, so I told him about it and suggested he post pics and details, and hopefully, he will do that. Meanwhile, I thought I would at least let others know about the car.

The bummer about the Arizona car is that it was stolen previous to this gentleman's purchase back in '74. It no longer has the factory VIN tag. It has a state issued VIN. This scares me. What is the group consensus about how this affects future value on a car like this? I assume this would preclude the possibility of obtaining a COA from Porsche, right?
