Did the factory offer strut braces on early 911's? If so what did they look like?

They put them on their race cars but I do not know if they were offered otherwise. I'll see if I can dig up some photos.

Here's one on a '73 RSR.....![]()
Ruf makes an inexpensive replica of the RSR weld-in brace.
Not saying I have all knowledge in this area. But, I think they started to use this style on the 2.8 RSR. It was bye then the tires gave a grip that motivated this usage. I have not seen them on S/T's on pictures at that time.
There is many reproductions for sale on eBay, not havint the correct dimentions on the sheet metal. Often describet in a way that you think that they might actually be original parts. This stuff is NOT complicated and ought not be expensive. I have payd 150 USD but value them more in the 75 USD region given material and "man time".

We copied the original parts for our offerings. We include the cross bar with the two weld in brackets. Cost is $125 plus shipping

The ST's had them as simple bars welded to the shock tower with a square reinforcing plate- not removable as the RSR and newer cars did. There is most likely some overlap with ST's getting the "RSR " style somewhere along the seasons. Some of the people on this board may know when this happened
