    Amature Fuchs Resto

Thought I'd share these pics of a typical at home wheel resto. It's not like I have nothing to do but the mood struck me to refinish some Fuchs I had laying about. I'll do this every once in awhile. This time I did 3 sets and went overboard, painful, lots of blisters. But they did come out pretty good. It's the looking at them when done that makes it worth it.

    Thumbs up

    Tom,

    They look GREAT...

    Nothing but admiration bud...

I did my race set some time ago and I'll NOT do it again.... until enough time has past where I think it's no big deal again...

BTW- 'Corn Huskers' does wonders for your beat up hands...

    Cheers,

Hey Chuck, thanks. And I feel exactly the same way. I won't touch a wheel for some time. Funny, but like you said after awhile you look at a wheel and say, Jeeze, that wasn't so bad. Although it does take awhile.
And sorry could not really do this for money, it just takes far too long. It's just something to do for fun, or rather, perhaps, as an excuse not to work on the book.

    I was just kidding.
I already sent some off to Harvey. I wonder how he manages to do it,and do it, and do it.

Hey John, thanks for the kind words. I think those guys know how to really do it, that is as opposed to me. I had some wheels done by Al and am really pleased with the results.

Wheels look great. What kind of primer and black paint did you use?.

Wurth makes a perfect matte black that will take a lot of abuse. Lasts years on exterior parts and a damn "exact" match to the oe fuchs finish.

I used Wurth to attempt to repaint the my wiper arms. I applied to bare metal, which simply flaked off. I then primered using 2-3 different types of primer, which seemed to have little effect - the paint kept coming off. I opted for buying new ones instead. On the can of Wurth I have states the paint is lacquer based and to use a lacquer compatible primer. One of the primers I used stated it would work with lacquer based paints, but it didn't. Any suggestions for what kind of primer to use?
